LLOYD’S DRUG MART
FIRST PHARMACY IN NORTHEAST NEBRASKA TO OFFER
NEXT-GENERATION DISPENSING AUTOMATION
Parata Max® Automates Dispensing, Frees Pharmacists to Care for Patients
Norfolk, NE (February 21, 2011) – Lloyd’s Drug Mart is the first independent pharmacy in Norfolk to install the leading technology for automating dispensing with high speed and accuracy, freeing the pharmacy team to focus on high-quality patient care and service.
Parata Max fully automates the dispensing of oral solids (e.g., pills, tablets, capsules), which are typically about 60 percent of a pharmacy’s prescriptions. Max selects and labels a vial, counts the right number of the right medication and strength, caps the vial and sorts the finished prescription by patient name, all in just seconds. It takes several minutes to complete the same steps by hand.
“It’s an investment in the future of our neighborhood pharmacy, and reflects our commitment to the highest standards of patient health and safety in Northeast Nebraska,” Chris Vincent, 2nd generation owner says.
“My father, Lloyd Vincent, built our business on providing personalized service and great patient care, but like many pharmacies in America today, we have more prescriptions to fill. Parata Max helps us work smarter, not harder, and lets us stay out in front with our customers,” Vincent adds.
“Just 10 years ago, pharmacies filled half as many prescriptions as today; more than 4 billion prescriptions were dispensed in 2007. As pharmacies grapple with this increased demand, one way consumers can take a more active role in ensuring their prescription safety is to peek behind the counter and see if the pharmacy uses dispensing technology like that being employed by Lloyd’s Drug Mart,” said Tom Rhoads, executive vice president of customer and market strategies for Parata. “Parata Max is next-generation technology that automates dispensing with 100 percent accuracy for drug and strength, and counts pills far more accurately than manual counting.
Lloyd’s Drug Mart’s investment in Parata Max is a great example of leveraging technology to do what it does best – perform repetitive tasks quickly and accurately – so that people can do what they do best – assist patients with their medication needs,” adds Rhoads.
“Parata Max doesn’t replace our need for staff, but will assist their efforts in continuing the type of personal care our customers have come to expect from Lloyd’s Drug Mart. The type of service my father established and the values we support every day,” says Vincent.
